Eminönü Pier is an easy tram ride in the evening, and a short walk from Sultanahmet and Sirkeci. The return leg is where the transfer earns its money: the boat ties up around midnight, and the vehicle is already waiting at the pier.
The transfer is +€5 per person and covers both directions. A driver collects you from your hotel in time for boarding, which opens at 20:00, and the return leaves the pier once the boat is alongside — between 23:45 and 00:00 — and takes you back to your door. Children up to three years old travel free, as they sail free.
Thirteen districts are covered: Sultanahmet, Fatih, Laleli, Eminönü, Sirkeci, Beyoğlu, Taksim, Şişli, Beşiktaş, Ortaköy, Kağıthane, Topkapı and Yenikapı. That takes in the old-city hotels, the Beyoğlu and Taksim strip and the Bosphorus side. From Sultanahmet, Sirkeci and Eminönü the pier is within walking distance, about ten minutes downhill from Sultanahmet, so for those guests the transfer is a convenience rather than a necessity. If your hotel is somewhere else, you are still welcome — you make your own way to Eminönü, and the T1 tram stops a minute's walk from the pier.

For the same evening the transfer has to be booked before 19:00; after that the cruise itself is still open until 21:00. For one or two guests from the old city, a taxi to Eminönü is competitive, and from Sultanahmet or Sirkeci you can simply walk. The transfer wins on the way back, at midnight, and it wins on a group, because +€5 per person buys both directions with a vehicle that is already waiting at the pier.
