One boat, one sailing, and the year turns on the water

New Year's Eve in Istanbul is usually a choice between a crowded square and a hotel ballroom. This is the third option: a table with the city moving past the window, and midnight where the bridge lights are.

On 31 December 2026 the boat sails once. Boarding opens at 21:00 at Cibali Pier on the Golden Horn, in Fatih beside Kadir Has University, and the lines come off at 22:00. The gala dinner is served as the boat leaves the Golden Horn and goes up the Bosphorus, the live show runs through the second half of the evening, and in the last half hour of 2026 the boat takes its position off Ortaköy, under the lights of the Bosphorus Bridge for the countdown.

After midnight the DJ has the dance floor for the first hour of 2027, and the boat is back alongside at Cibali at about 01:00. Guests who booked a hotel transfer are driven back from the pier; taxis and the T5 tram are the alternative.

The price is one number: €180 per adult and €150 per child aged four to nine, with children up to three free. It covers the cruise, the gala dinner, unlimited soft drinks, the whole programme and the countdown. Nothing is paid in advance — you settle on board in cash or by card, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before boarding.

Two warm salons, two open decks

The boat is 42 metres long, with two enclosed, heated salons with panoramic windows, a stage and a dance floor, and open decks at the bow and stern. Dinner and the show are inside; the decks are for the countdown and the view.

Late December on the Bosphorus is cold and can be wet. The salons are heated and the decks are open air — bring a coat for midnight and leave it at your table.

What to know before you choose your night

What happens in Istanbul on New Year's Eve?

31 December is an ordinary working day in Turkey and 1 January is a public holiday, so the city celebrates on the night itself. Taksim and İstiklal fill with crowds, Nişantaşı and Bağdat Avenue put up their lights, the big hotels run gala dinners, and the Bosphorus shore from Ortaköy to Bebek is where people go to see midnight. A boat puts you on the water side of that view instead of the pavement side.

Where is the best place to see midnight?

From the water. The bridge is lit for the night, fireworks go up from both shores, and there is nobody standing in front of you. On a boat you also do not have to leave a crowded square at half past midnight looking for a taxi.

Will there be fireworks?

Fireworks along the Bosphorus are set off by the city and by waterfront venues and change from year to year, so we do not sell them as part of the programme. What is fixed: the bridge lights, the countdown, and a deck to watch it all from.

What is the weather like on 31 December?

Cold and often wet: daytime temperatures around eight to ten degrees, lower on the water at midnight, and a real chance of rain or wind. Dinner and the show are inside the heated salons; the open decks are there for the countdown, so bring a coat and leave it at your table.

What should we wear?

There is no dress code. Most guests dress up for the night — it is New Year's Eve — but a jacket over a shirt is as common as a dress. Comfortable shoes for the gangway, and a coat for the deck.

How do we get back to the hotel after midnight?

Three ways. The hotel transfer add-on (+€5 per person) collects you before boarding and drives you back from the pier after 01:00. Taxis are available in Fatih but scarce right at midnight everywhere in the city. Public transport usually runs extended hours on New Year's Eve; the city announces it each December.

Is it for couples, families or groups?

All three. Couples take a window table, sometimes with the romantic setup; families come because the whole programme is family-friendly and children up to three sail free; groups of friends book a long table and stay on the dance floor after midnight. The drinks package is optional and the night works without it.

How far ahead should we book?

It is one boat and one sailing, and tables are reserved by name, so the earlier you book the more choice you have. There is no deposit and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before, so reserving early costs nothing.
